Our board is committed to our mission of partnering with communities to fight cancer.  They bring professional expertise including senior management positions with public and private healthcare entities and management of private equity and venture capital investments.

George B. DeHuff III, Chairman of the Board

George has been affiliated with Kohlberg since 2001. He has more than 34 years of experience running businesses in both the healthcare and business service sectors. He served as President, CEO, and Executive Chairman for the Kohlberg portfolio company B.I. Incorporated, which he led through three consecutive leveraged buyouts until its eventual sale to The GEO Group in 2011. Prior to his affiliation with Kohlberg, he was President and COO of Total Renal Care, which at the time was the second largest provider of dialysis services in the U.S. He was also President and CEO of American Medical Response (AMR), now a division of EMSC, the largest provider of emergency medical services in the U.S. Prior to AMR, he was President and CEO at Lifefleet, Inc., one of the three largest private sector emergency medical services providers in the country at the time. George has served in numerous leadership and operating roles at EECO, Price Waterhouse, and Hi-Tek Corporation. He is a member of the board of directors of AGY Holdings Corporation, and he has served on the boards of B.I. Incorporated and American Medical Response. George earned his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan and his bachelor’s degree in economics from Oakland University.

Robert A. Cucuel, Jr.

Mr. Cucuel has been affiliated with Kohlberg since 1999 and was named an Operating Partner in 2010. Mr. Cucuel has over twenty-five years of experience as an executive in healthcare services and has successfully completed two tours as Chief Executive Officer of Kohlberg portfolio companies. From 2006 until it was sold in 2010, Mr. Cucuel served as the Chief Executive Officer of Critical Homecare Solutions, a Kohlberg Fund V portfolio company and a provider of home infusion therapy products and services. Prior to that he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Products Healthcare, which had purchased American Homecare Supply, a Kohlberg Fund III portfolio company that Mr. Cucuel operated from 1998 until it was sold in 2002. Mr. Cucuel is currently Chairman of SouthernCare, and is a member of the board of directors of e+CancerCare. Prior to his affiliation with Kohlberg, Mr. Cucuel held various senior level management positions at American Home Patient and Home Nutritional Services. Mr. Cucuel received a B.S. from Boston College.

Samuel P. Frieder

Mr. Frieder is the Managing Partner of Kohlberg and a member of the Investment Committee. He joined the Firm in 1989, was made a Partner in 1995 and named Managing Partner in 2006. In addition to responsibilities for originating and executing new investments, and serving as a Director of the portfolio companies listed below, Mr. Frieder oversees all aspects of the firm’s investment activities, portfolio company initiatives, personnel decisions and other internal operational and administrative matters. He is a member of the board of directors of Aurora Products Group, LLC, Bauer Performance Sports, BioScrip, Chronos Life Group, Concrete Technologies Worldwide, e+CancerCare, Katy Industries, Kellermeyer Bergensons Services, Nellson Nutraceutical, L.L.C., Nielsen & Bainbridge, Packaging Dynamics Corporation, Pittsburgh Glass Works, Phillips-Medisize Corporation, Risk Strategies Company, Sabre Industries, Inc., SouthernCare, Stanadyne Corporation, SVP Holdings and Trico Products. Prior to joining Kohlberg, Mr. Frieder was with the capital funding group at Security Pacific Business Credit and Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company. Mr. Frieder received an A.B. from Harvard College.

Benjamin J. Mao

Mr. Mao is a member of Kohlberg’s Investment Committee and is responsible for leading the execution and monitoring of certain new and existing Kohlberg investments. Mr. Mao joined Kohlberg in 2002 and was named a Vice-President in 2007 and a Partner in 2010. Mr. Mao was previously with Ewing Management Group and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Credit Suisse First Boston. He is a member of the board of directors of e+CancerCare, Phillips-Medisize Corporation, Pittsburgh Glass Works, Sabre Industries, Inc. and SouthernCare. Mr. Mao received an A.B. from Harvard College.

Jean Roberts

Ms. Roberts joined Kohlberg in 2011 as a Vice President. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Roberts was with North Castle Partners LLC. Prior to that, she was with Berkshire Partners LLC and Goldman, Sachs & Co. She is a member of the board of directors for Aurora Products Group, LLC and e+CancerCare. Ms. Roberts received an A.B. from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Tom Weiss, CEO & Director

Evan Wildstein

Mr. Wildstein is a member of Kohlberg’s Investment Committee and is responsible for leading the execution and monitoring of certain new and existing Kohlberg investments. Mr. Wildstein joined Kohlberg in 1994 and became a Partner in 1999. Prior to joining the Firm, he was with Dean Witter Reynolds in the Acquisition and Private Finance Group. He is a member of the board of directors of Chronos Life Group, e+CancerCare, Pittsburgh Glass Works, SouthernCare, Stanadyne Corporation, SVP Holdings and Trico Products. Mr. Wildstein holds a B.B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Gordon H. Woodward

Mr. Woodward joined Kohlberg in 1996, became a Partner and a member of the Investment Committee in 2001 and was named Chief Investment Officer in 2010. Mr. Woodward is responsible for originating and executing new investments and monitoring the current portfolio. Additionally, as the Chief Investment Officer, he manages the Investment Committee approval process for new investments, including oversight of the firm’s due diligence efforts, coordination of the firm’s internal and external resources and close interaction with the transaction and monitoring teams. Mr. Woodward is a member of the board of directors of Aurora Products Group, LLC, Bauer Performance Sports, BioScrip, Chronos Life Group, e+CancerCare, Kellermeyer Bergensons Services, Nellson Nutraceutical, L.L.C., Nielsen & Bainbridge, Packaging Dynamics Corporation, Pittsburgh Glass Works, Phillips-Medisize Corporation, Risk Strategies Company, Sabre Industries, Inc., SouthernCare, Stanadyne Corporation and Standard Parking Corporation. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Woodward was with James D. Wolfensohn Incorporated. Mr. Woodward received an A.B. from Harvard College.
